Op.Dr. Erman AK
Dr. Erman Ak is a plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery specialist. He completed his primary and secondary education in Mersin and his high school education at Mersin Science High School. He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine as a Doctor of Medicine in 2014. In 2014, he started his specialty training at Istanbul University Çapa Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. During his residency, he’s been involved in lots of cases, including congenital hand anomalies and nerve transfers, which are common in the department where hand surgery is performed. He’s also signed many successful microsurgery cases. He’s also performed many successful cleft lip and palate, congenital anomalies, and jaw surgery operations in the hospital, which is one of the few maxillofacial surgery centers in Istanbul. These challenging and exhausting surgeries helped Dr. Erman Ak to create his own concept in facial surgery.
In 2018, Prof. Fu Chan Wei finished his advanced microsurgery training at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. In 2019, he gave a talk at the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery congress in Bologna, where he shared his experiences with ‘ALT flaps’. He finished his residency by presenting his thesis, ‘Investigation of the Morbidity of the Donor Area After Latissimus Dorsi Muscle Flaps,’ and became a plastic surgery specialist. After that, he helped set up the plastic surgery department at Başakşehir Çam and Sakura Hospital and served as the head of the department for a long time. He successfully performed the department’s first foot jaw bone transplant surgery. In 2022, he did some advanced studies on facial and breast aesthetics at Villa Bella Clinic in Italy with Prof. Dr. Giovanni Botti and Chiara Botti. He was an ISAPS scholar there for three months. On the other hand, Dr. Ak, who keeps up his international scientific career, got the European Union aesthetic plastic surgery qualification from the European Board of Plastic Surgery (EBOPRAS) in 2021. He got it for his achievements in this field. He treats his patients like they’re his own family. Erman Ak is also very involved in many professional and social activities.
